The Android version of Garmin Connect does not work regardless of the device because the Play Store app is still only at version 4.29. I have that issue too when running. It's fine just playing music but once I track the run the sound starts skipping. Then as I get further from home I find the skipping stops. My theory is it's the extra load of Wifi - the watch it looking to synch or looking at what wifi points are available. I'll have to try disabling Wifi and see if that helps.
