Location: Wales. Having performed a fair bit of reading regarding some of the issues reported, and problems that can be avoided via regular oil changes; our 2010 1.6HDi is coming up to 24k miles, hence time to change the oil. Is this a fairly easy DIY task - primarily I am asking from the perspective of actually getting access to the drain plug!
The decision to change the oil is up to you. I changed mine at 55K miles, the gear change felt better after the oil was changed but the old full auto box has always been very good. Not sure about the new EAT6, perhaps it made no difference but I do feel it should be done. Hope that helps.

Checking the fluid level. Let the engine run for two minutes with the selector at park 'P'. The transmission fluid level is best checked when the engine is at normal running temperature. Carefully remove undertray. It is heavy. Here's the sump plug. Don't forget to place a suitably sized receiving tray beneath. Using a 21mm spanner or socket, carefully remove the sump plug and fully drain the oil. When the sump has emptied, wipe clean the sump plug area with a paper towel and fit a new sump plug and washer. Do not over tighten.

I did exactly the same on my previous 2014 C4 Picasso, doing exactly the same thing too. I left a drop link connected, and knocked the suspension strut, so it pulled itself toward the back of the car (because of the suspension spring) and pulled out the driveshaft and dropping a large puddle of oil.
